Each flavor is mixed in as the ice is made, so there are no sugary syrups poured on top when the product is served. Most flavors are made with natural ingredients, and all flavors are fat free, dairy free and gluten free.

 

If you have had Italian ice before, you can be assured that this is the good stuff. We import our ice directly from Philadelphia, so it has the same great taste and texture that is so popular along the East Coast.

We admit the possibility that Duke’s Italian Ice began as a quarter-life crisis, stemming from Duke’s fear that he would “lose his soul to Corporate America” upon graduating from college and becoming a certified public accountant in 2011. He was preparing to work countless hours and wanted to do something entrepreneurial as a way to fulfill his desire to work for himself. 

 

During its first year of business, Duke’s Italian Ice operated strictly as a food cart in downtown Salt Lake City. We have since navigated away from the street vendor scene and are currently operating exclusively as a catering business. Our hope is to one day open a storefront so we can be a constant source of this tasty treat. With the storefront would come the opportunity to produce our Italian ice in-house. We’re working toward it!

If you’ve never tried Italian ice before, you should know that, aside from being cold, it is not anything like snow cones—which is a common misconception we face. Rather, Italian ice has a consistency similar to sorbet.
